veg_mn Baked Green tomatoes – This country style, tangy, recipe for baked green tomatoes is a snap to whip up. The large, luscious, tomatoes are simply cut in half, topeed with a sweet, crunchy, mix of butter, brown sugar, and butter cracker crumbs. Oven roasted until tender, and steaming hot, this sweet tomato vegetable recipe is delicious.

Ingredients to make Baked Green Tomatoes

15 lg Green tomatoes
Salt and pepper
2 c Brown sugar
3 c Coarse butter-cracker crumbs
2 Sticks butter

Directions to make Baked Green Tomatoes

Step 1:Cut tomatoes in half and arrange in an oiled shallow casserole. Season with salt and pepper and spread each with a tablespoon of sugar. Cover with crumbs and dot with butter.
Step 2:Bake at 350 F until tender but still firm – the time will depend on the size and greenness of the tomatoes – but will probably range from 30 to 40 minutes.
